Destination 2020 bolsters the self-esteem of students from grade 6 to grade 9 (ages 11-14). It helps them recognize the literally hundreds of skills they have already acquired. It shows them how these skills will be valuable in their future careers. It teaches them how they can intentionally and purposefully enhance their existing skills and learn and practice new ones they will need for success in career and life.
The program is divided into five sections, each with engaging activities that help students discover their skills and areas of interest. Students also identify their strongest personality characteristics and learn how attitude can change a negative personality trait into a positive one.
Using a combination of their interests and favorite school subjects, students choose one or more occupations from the more than 200 Occupational Profiles included in Destination 2020. Each depicts the daily activities of a person performing a particular type of work, and describes the skills required to perform these activities.
